There are no hidden fees or additional charges to use Shop Pay Installments, including interest rates or late feels. However, if an installment isn't paid, or the payment is late, you may not be eligible to use Shop Pay Installments in the future.
When checking out with Shop Pay Installments, you will either be offered the option to pay the first installment at checkout, or make your first payment two weeks after the purchase. Regardless of the option you are presented, subsequent payments will be automatically charged to your card every two weeks after the first payment. You will receive an email reminded before each payment is charged. You can change your settings to manually pay each installment, but be sure to schedule the payment at least 24 hours before the payment is due, or the payment may be processed automatically.

Your payment schedule is based on the date of purchase and can't be changed or combined with another payment schedule. However, you can pay any installment early without any penalty or fee. There are no fees or penalties for paying more than your installment amount, or for paying off your whole balance early. However, partial payments or late payments may affect future approvals to use Shop Pay installments.Credit Score and Eligibility
Your credit score will not be impacted if you pay using Shop Pay Installments. When using Shop Pay Installments, Affirm will not preform a hard credit check, and it will not report activity to credit bureaus. However, if you don’t pay an installment, or you make a late payment, then your eligibility for making purchases using Shop Pay Installments in the future may be affected.
A refund through Shop Pay Installments will be processed in different ways, depending on the status of your payment schedule, how much you have paid, and if the store has processed a full or partial refund.
If your refund amount is less than the amount remaining on your Shop Pay Installments balance, then you can expect one or both of the following:
- A smaller payment balance on the final payment
- Less future payments on the remaining loan balance
If your refund amount is more than the amount remaining on your Shop Pay Installments balance, then you can expect to receive the difference as a refund to your original debit card or credit card payment method within 10 business days.
